Inspired by authentic Indonesian design
Komodo House is an interior design and furniture company which draws its style from rattan and teak wood which is mostly used in the Indonesian countries.
We came to this style of furniture because of the travels we made through Indonesia and it immediately caught our attention. There are not many companies in Europe that offer this style yet, so we thought this was the perfect timing and opportunity to start a business.
We don't like the modern and sleek furniture very much, but more traditional craftsmanship, bohemian style interior design and organic materials. With that in mind, we carefully choose the furniture and accessories that we offer in our collection.
About the founders themselves
In our search to the right products we ended up with both Indonesian and European suppliers and factories where our products come from. Everything is produced in a sustainable way and is made from natural products.
How did we come up with the name Komodo House? During a trip through Indonesia we visited the Komodo island and this made an exceptional impression on us. Komodo island, part of the Lesser Sunda chain of Indonesian islands, is the rugged habitat of the 3m-long Komodo dragon monitor lizard. Komodo National Park is the home to more than 4,000 dragons, and is made up of rusty-red volcanic hills, savannah and forests.
We have many beautiful memories of this island and the rest of Indonesia and we want to pass that on to the people who come into contact with our company. Komodo for us stands for the adventure, the journey and bringing different cultures together.
